The lost at of tailgating was re-discovered on Saturday, September 22. Arriving on campus at 9:00 a.m. for a 5 p.m. football game against Washington State might sound crazy to some, but to everyone on the USC campus, it's the way of life. So I gathered some of the fellas and we headed out. A day of breakfast burritos, hot dogs, burgers and all the fixins lay ahead of us. Oh yeah, and there were some boos too.
The day was everything I expected it to be: eating, drinking, and clowning. I'll spare you with the details of the tailgate but lets just say the alcohol was flowin and everyone was bleeding cardinal and gold. Once the SC marching band arrived (1 hour prior to game time), everyone was packing up their gear and heading towards the Coliseum.
The game was what everyone expected it to be, as SC stormed onto the field and blew out Wa. State, 47-14, again silencing the critics and leaving no doubt about who the nation's top ranked team is. After fighting through traffic and finally arriving home at 10:00 p.m., posting this blog felt like I was going into the trenches myself. Finally, after an eventful day, I did learn one thing: tailgating is not for the weak of heart. It takes years and years of perfection, and like speed, you can't teach it. Next on SC's schedule is an away game against Ty Willingham and the University of Washington. BEAT THE HUSKIES!!!
