Zambrano Befuddled by Fan Reaction?

Carlos Zambrano and the Cubbies got rolled by the Dodgers on Monday. Another poor performance by Zambrano gives him 5 losses in a row. In the post game press conference, Zambrano stated "I don't understand why the fans were booing at me. I can't understand that. They showed me today they just care about them. That's no fair. Because when you are struggling, that's when you want to feel the support of the fans." I don't know why the fan's are mad at you either Carlos, perhaps they feel that you don't deserve that 5 year, $91.5 million contract extension you signed earlier this year. Perhaps the fans just figured out that they have to put up with you subpar performance through 2012. Perhaps Carlos, they've just realized that they've been duped.

Zambrano has been inconsistent the entire year. His 14-12 record doesn't depict how horrible of a season he's had. With a home ERA of 4.60 and a 5-7 record, Zambrano wouldn't even justify a $91 dollar per game salary. His best month came in July where he won 5 of 6 starts. Sure they were against the Pirates, Nationals, Giants, Astros and at the time, struggling Cards. Then came August, and Carlos lost every game he started that month.

On Monday, the boo birds were in full affect at Wrigley. Zambrano was pulled after 4 1/3. He gave up a 2 run scoring hit to Dodger pitcher Esteban Loaiza. At age 26, Zambrano better get his act together, or he'll join the likes of Mussina, Zito, Schmidt, and Hampton. Wrigley fans, if you thought that it couldn't get worse than Bartman, hold on tight, 'cause it's gonna be a bumpy ride.
