Week 5 College Picks

I'm not a gambling man, but if I were...

- (1) USC at Washington - Tougher road game than people like to think. Jake Locker looks good for a rookie quarterback, but he will have his hands full with the SC defense. I like SC -21.
- (2) LSU at Tulane - Coming off a not so impressive victory over South Carolina, LSU will make a statement this game. 40 points is a lot to give up, but Tulane is so bad that I think LSU may score 70. Take LSU and the points.
- (21) Penn State at Illinois - Penn is so dead offensively, I hate ever picking them. But I think they have to prove they belong in the top 25 this week. Look for State to barely squeak it out. Penn State -3.
- Air Force at Navy - I know. Neither team is in the top 25. So what? Their my picks and I'll pick whatever game I want. I like the Force! and +3.
- North Carolina at (17) Virginia Tech- Expect Va Tech to come out blazin'. -18 is alot, but they need to impress this week after a somewhat flat start to the season. Tech will cover.
- (3) Oklahoma at Colorado - Ok. Ok. I learned my lesson. Watch the rookie quarterback RUMBLE this week. I like Oklahoma -23.
- (6) Cal at (11) Oregon - Let the fire works begin! The first real test for either team. Special teams will play a big part, but the team who wins the turnover battle will prevail. At Oregon? Sorry Bears, I think home court will also play a big role. Take Oregon -5.5.
- (22) Alabama at Florida State - Coming off an emotional loss from last week, the Tide have a tough task ahead of them, on the road this week against a better than average FSU squad. Look for another nail-biter, with the Seminoles eeking it out... I can see the 'Fire Nick Saban' signs already. FSU -3.
- (5) W. Virginia at (18) South Florida - How many freekin' teams are in Florida!? 18th or not, the score will be close only in the first half. WVU will runaway with it in the second, and by more than just a touchdown. Take the Mountaineers -7.
- Auburn at (4) Florida - The Tigers better keep this one close. Impressive pounding last week, but if they want to be mentioned in the same breath as the big schools, blow out losses won't help. I like Auburn +18.
