Sexy Rexy To Sit...Finally

Lovie Smith and the Chicago Bears announced that Brian Griese would get the start at quarterback over Rex Grossman on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Bear fans everywhere are breathing a sigh of relief. How bad had things gotten for Grossman? Bad enough that there was an uproar to start Griese. This is the same Brian Griese that was run out of town in Miami, so basically it's a case of starting the lesser of two evils. The Bears don't need somebody to throw 80 yard bombs. They just need someone that won't lose them games the way Grossman was this year. Grossman's fate was sealed before the season even started. After his performance in the Super Bowl and the pre-season, fans and media alike were calling for his head. There was no way he could succeed under these circumstances. I won't say anything negative about Grossman, all that has been beaten to death. I will say he's handled all the adversity with class and I hope he can get his head straight. This isn't a case of Ryan Leaf, too much talent but a head case. Grossman just isn't the most gifted quarterback, however, the Bears did make it to the Super Bowl last year, and who knows, if Griese can right this ship, the Bears and their defense might just make it back again. The NFC is weak and ripe for the taking.
